5052 Alloy Aluminum
5052 aluminum is a high-performance, non-heat-treatable alloy primarily alloyed with magnesium. Known for its excellent corrosion resistance and strength, it is a preferred material in marine, automotive, architectural, and industrial applications. Aluminum Distributing, Inc.(ADI Metal) offers a full range of 5052 aluminum products, including 5052 aluminum plate, and 5052 aluminum sheet, available in multiple sizes and thicknesses.
This alloy delivers strong resistance to saltwater, chemicals, and atmospheric conditions, making it a smart choice for equipment exposed to harsh environments. Its strength-to-weight ratio and formability also make it a popular option across multiple fabrication needs. Whether you're forming, welding, or machining, 5052 aluminum performs reliably under demanding conditions.
5052 Aluminum Sheet and Plate
5052 aluminum sheet is one of the most common forms used across industries. It is stocked in a range of thicknesses and widths and supports a wide array of applications. It is frequently used for panels, storage tanks, marine enclosures, trailer siding, and aircraft fuel tanks. The sheet's clean surface finish and flatness make it suitable for applications requiring both strength and appearance.
Customers choose 5052 aluminum sheet for projects that involve bending, punching, or forming. It holds up well under pressure without cracking or splitting. Its moderate-to-high tensile strength, along with its natural corrosion resistance, allows for reliable performance in both indoor and outdoor uses.
5052 Aluminum Sheet and Plate
When fabricators need a durable and workable material, 5052 aluminum sheet metal provides the right balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and formability. This material is often selected for enclosures, signage, fan blades, industrial cabinets, and chemical equipment. It can be anodized for an added layer of protection or visual appeal.
5052 aluminum sheet metal performs well in both structural and aesthetic roles. It can be cut, sheared, formed, and welded without compromising its mechanical properties. It is a common solution for both mass production and custom fabrication.
Industries Served and Typical Applications
5052 aluminum products are used across marine, aerospace, architectural, transportation, and general manufacturing sectors. Boat hulls, truck trailers, highway signs, storage tanks, and pressure vessels are just a few examples. The material’s ability to resist saltwater corrosion and maintain strength after forming makes it a reliable option across a wide span of end uses.

6061 Structural Marine Grade Aluminum
The following specifications cover Aluminum 60616061 Aluminum is, by most any measure, the most commonly used aluminum alloy. It is specified in most any application due to its strength, heat treatability, comparatively easy machining, and weldability. If that were not enough, it is also capable of being anodized, adding a layer of protection for finished parts.
The main alloy ingredients of 6061 aluminum are magnesium and silicon.

Forming
Easily cold worked and formed in the annealed condition. Stamping, bending, spinning, deep drawing are all readily accomplished using standard methods.
Welding
The alloy has very good welding characteristics and may be welded by all of the common welding techniques. Gas tungsten arc welding is generally used for thin sections (less than 0.032") and gas metal arc welding is used for heavier sections. Use alloy 4043 filler wire for best results, although a decrease in T 6 properties will result.
Heat Treatment
Solution heat treat at 990 F for adequate time to allow for thorough heating and then water quench. Precipitation hardening is done at 320 F for 18 hours and air cool, followed by 350 F for 8 hours and air cooling.
Forging
The alloy is capable of being hot forged at temperatures in the range of 900 F to 750 F.
Hot Working
Hot working may be done in the temperature range of 700 F to 500 F.
Cold Working
Cold working in the O temper condition is readily performed. The alloy is notably less easy to cold form in the T 4 and T 6 tempers.
Annealing
Annealing should be done at 775 F for 2 to 3 hours followed by controlled cooling at 50 f per hour down to 500 F, then air cool.
Aging
The aging precipitation heat treatment is done at 350 F for 8 hours followed by air cooling. This produces the T6 temper.

6063 Architectural Aluminum
6063 is often called architectural aluminum for two reasons - first, it has a surface finish that is far smoother than the other commercially available alloys, and second, its strength is significantly less (roughly half the strength of 6061), making it suited for applications where strength is not the foremost consideration.6063 is rated as "Good" for forming and cold working operations, "Excellent" for anodizing, and "Fair" for machining.
